FINDING LIGHT IN MY DARKEST MOMENT ✨

The release of MOJAVE is a story about finding the light when trapped in darkness. This symbolism foreshadows events that I wasn't expecting. Before those events, I had a plan for the name and scent of this candle, along with a release date, and here is how we stumbled upon this unbelievable journey.

The scent is Pineapple Sage, also known as salvia elegans.
It’s an herb that flowers a beautiful vibrant pink flower for a limited time and it has a sweet pineapple scent. So while you will notice both the pineapple and the sage, the origin of this is one thing. What I find interesting about this plant is that because of the bright-colored flower and sweet aroma it produces, hummingbirds find this plant to be a great source of food.

My husband and I did a lot of research on hummingbirds because there are many in our area. We were looking for something symbolic and how it ties to our life and DL. In that search, here was our initial link: The way a hummingbird pauses to drink a flower’s nectar and enjoy its sweetness is a reminder to live life to the fullest and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. After relocating from Chicago to Phoenix, this was our top priority. & each time we’d get caught up in work and moving too fast, a hummingbird would appear and remind us of the reason we made the move.

So, where does MOJAVE come in? In the research of hummingbirds, I read a story about the Mojave, a Tribe native to the Mojave Desert in Arizona, California, and Mexico. They were a group who lived underground in complete darkness. A hummingbird was sent out to look for a path to light. The little hummingbird searched the dark, twisting paths, until he found one that led to the upper world, bringing the people out of darkness.

Interesting right? But wait, there’s more...

August 16, 2022: 2 days after my 15 year old fur baby, Toby,
made his way to the rainbow bridge, I sat at my kitchen island crying. Our home was so quiet and empty feeling. I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I was not motivated to do anything. And the launch of my MOJAVE candle was scheduled to be released on August 27. It seemed impossible.

Getting a puppy wasn’t in my plan, but I started searching
for Lhasa Apsos. I contacted 15+ people who had this breed of puppies and one person called me right away.

She had one little babe who was older and she was anxious to get him a furever home. It reminded me of Toby, as he was left in a kennel for months before we adopted him.

When we mapped out the address of where this puppy was
located, his home was at the entrance of Mojave Regional Park and 2 hours south of Mojave National Preserve. And with MOJAVE already being symbolic of being led from darkness into light, I knew this was a sign from my blind boy, Toby, saying this puppy who can see the world will lead you from the sadness of me passing, to the happiness of giving another puppy a fantastic life.

On August 21, 2022, we met Moe, who has been 100% the light of our lives. Not only did we release this candle on time, but it was released with a whole heck of a lot more meaning.

MOJAVE is a tribute to my best friend Toby, and the welcoming of my new friend, MOE.

It is destiny that this seasonal release has been so welcomed and loved by our community. And so MOJAVE is here to stay.
