LA DOLCE VITA ❤️ 🤍💚
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. 🤫 I had the Italian Collection Scents picked out, and tested, all before I even went to Italy. I know, it doesn’t make any sense, right? They weren’t intended to be based around Italy, but as fate has it, turns out they were. If you follow my life journey, you know that timing is everything, and my life is a collection of moments that always tie into one another. Olive Mill is a perfect example!
👉🏼If you’re local to Arizona, you may have heard of the Queen Creek Olive Mill. It’s a farm providing fresh, local, extra virgin olive oil, shopping, live music, and events, and it’s in my neighborhood. When I relocated from Mesa to QC/STV, it seemed like an entirely different world with less development, and more western vibes. So when my cousin came to visit, I was excited to take a trip to the QC Olive Mill.
We went inside and sampled the olive oils, bought fresh pasta, and walked the grounds. It was an Italian experience right in our backyard. So naturally, when we left, we told everyone we went to Italy.
When we got home, we listened to Italian cooking music, made homemade lemon pasta, cheers’d with some bubbly, and played games with the crisp evening breeze transporting us to the scene itself.
It was quite the Italian experience if I do say so myself. The memories were so fun and we talked about our trip to “Italy” all week. It was something I wanted to remember so it had to make a place within Desert Liberties, telling our story and reliving the feelings.
From this experience alone, I was testing scents and developing my story, trying to come up with a name for the candle. As fate has it, my husband was assigned a work trip to Lake Como, Italy. & suddenly everything came together.
🌳October 2024, home for a week 🌳
It was in the heart of my busy season and I didn’t think it was good timing for me to tag along on my hubby’s work trip to Lake Como. But as the date approached, I remembered that this is the reason why I work so hard and the focus that I’ve built this business around. To live your best life. To work to live, not live to work. So with a week to spare, I booked the trip. We left on a Sunday morning, hours after breaking down one of the most grueling markets I’ve been a vendor at. It seemed crazy, but I’m so glad I did it 🤌🏼
After booking, I became increasingly more excited. I started researching the area we were staying in and I learned the best time for visiting was between October and November during the olives harvest… and that was the exact timeframe of our visit. When we arrived, we traveled the area by ferry, making stops in the two areas involved in the production of olive oil for that Provence. We bought local olive oil, pasta, and more to import and share with our family!
I’ll never understand how my experiences always collide and present themselves so beautifully to me. I’m looking forward to sharing OLIVE MILL with you, a rural and elegant aroma, as an invitation to reflect and embrace the calming essence of the atmosphere.
