OUR ORIGIN & CONCEPT

Desert Liberties is an expression of me serving the person I once was. Founded in 2021, DL operates as a reminder that in life, we are not stuck, we can change our narrative if it’s not where we want to be, and every day is a new opportunity to pursue the things we love. And because I have lived this and wholeheartedly believe it’s true for us all, I want to share my journey with you!

Hi, my name is Samantha and I’m the owner, founder, and She-EO! By day, I work full-time in customer service for a construction company. At night, I ignite my creativity by managing all aspects of my business. From sourcing to manufacturing, and social media to picking-and-packing, let’s just say I stay busy!

At the beginning of 2020, I took a massive leap of faith leaving the fitness industry in pursuit of a steadier schedule to do things that light my soul on fire. With the time I earned back from creating playlists, planning workouts, and having no daily operations issues to correct, I invested those hours into candle making as a hobby. What I originally thought would be a fun pastime to keep my creative juices flowing, organically spiraled into a licensed and insured business and its history from there!

So how did we come up with the name and concept? I'll fill you in!

My husband and I were born and raised in Chicago. I like to say our lives really “started” after relocating to the desert. Life in the Midwest is limited by inconsistent weather, high cost of living, and working for the weekend. And honestly, weekends there were as gray as the sky.

Our day-to-day life was consumed with outside stressors, and we were escaping from the cold and darkness often. We traveled to NorCal + SoCal, Nevada, and Arizona, all before May of 2017! It was that moment a light bulb went off. We vividly remember leaving sunny Arizona to head home where it was raining, and we knew it was time to make a big change. By August of 2017 we officially sold our first home and took a 3-day road trip to plant new roots in Arizona.

The desert saved me. Each finished product is custom blended from my soul. Whether it is a liberty I experienced while living in Chicago… helping me escape from reality (think Greece, Dominican Republic, Las Vegas) -OR- a liberty I’ve newly learned to explore… after moving to the desert (resort hopping, picking citrus fruits, weekend pool parties), I recreate these by way of olfaction to evoke memories and tell my story. With this, I hope to not only find common ground with you, but inspire everyone to find their light.
